Windows OS comes with an on-screen keyboard which is useful for users with touchscreen Windows devices. If you do not have a touchscreen laptop, you can still launch the on-screen keyboard. Windows 11 has a feature, named Typing Insights for touch or on-screen keyboard. If you turn on this feature, Windows 11 will show you your typing statistics, like keystrokes, autocomplete words, spelling corrections, etc. In this article, we will show you how to turn Typing Insights on or off in Windows 11.

1] Enable and disable Typing Insights via the Settings app

The following steps will help you turn Typing Insights on or off via the Windows 11 Settings app:

  1. Right-click on the Windows 11 Start Menu and select Settings.
  2. In the Settings app, select the Time & Language category from the left pane.
  3. Now, click on the Typing tab on the right side of the page.
  4. Click on the Typing Insights tab.
  5. On the Typing Insights page, turn on the button.

On the same page, you will see all your typing statistics. This data will help you know how many mistakes you have made while typing.

2] Enable and disable Typing Insights via the Registry Editor

This method will guide you on how to enable and disable the Typing Insights by using the Registry Editor. Before you proceed, we recommend you create a System Restore Point and back up your Registry. Follow the instructions listed below carefully:

  1. Launch the Registry Editor.
  2. Navigate to the path that we will mention here.
  3. Select the desired key.
  4. Select the desired Value from the right pane and change its Value Data.
  5. Click OK to save.

1] Press Win + R keys to launch the Run command box. Type regedit and click OK. Click Yes in the UAC Prompt.

2] Navigate to the following path in the Registry Editor manually or simply copy it and paste it into the address bar of the Registry Editor and hit Enter.

3] Expand the Input key and select the subkey, named Settings. If this subkey is not there, you have to create it. For this, right-click on the Input key and go to “New > Key” and name this key as Settings.

4] After selecting the Settings key, see whether or not it contains a Value named InsightsEnabled on the right side. If you do not find this Value on the right side, right-click in the empty space and go to “New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.” After that, right-click on the newly created Value and select Rename, and type InsightsEnabled.

5] Double-click on InsightsEnabled Value and enter:

  • 0 in the Value Data to disable the Typing Insights.
  • 1 in the Value Data to enable the Typing Insights.

6] Click OK to save the settings.

How do I turn off Windows typing suggestions?

The option to turn off typing suggestions in Windows is available in the Settings app under the Time & Language category. After disabling the typing suggestions, Windows will not show you the relevant words while typing.
