Just starting to find out what torrents are, and you want part of the action? I’ll show you all you need to know about how to download torrents. I’ll also let you in on the best sites to use and what torrent client will give you the best speeds possible, when set up correctly.
What Are Torrents?
Torrents are a little tiny file that once linked to a torrent client will give your client all the information it needs to start downloading a file, movie, tv show, game, software, books and more. It allows the torrent client to gather how many seeders (Users who have the file completely downloaded and sharing), how many peers (Users like yourself trying to download the file). Peers can also share their part of the torrent file if they have a certain amount completed. Just think of it as a P2P program like the old Napster or Kazaa, but it shares what it can whenever it can from whoever it can.
Torrents are usually found on sites that have been uploaded by the creators, and distributed to everyone who comes across it. I’ll let you know what the best sites are and where to find them, as now some ISP’s will block you from going on to them.
If you wanted to, you could also create your own torrent. For example, if you’re a musician and you have created your own album. You can create a torrent which will then allow your client to seed your album to who ever has access to the torrent file you created. You don’t even have to upload it to a site, you can just send the tiny torrent file to friends or families over email or messenger etc, and you will see that they will start to download it from your machine.
How Do I Download Torrents?
Right, so you have a little understanding on how torrents work, and no you want to get started downloading torrents. Lets get to it then.
First thing is first, you’re going to need to get yourself a torrent client. There are numerous ones out there which you can easily find with a quick google search. But for me, after years of using torrents, uTorrent 2.2.1 has to be the best. Once configured with my best uTorrent settings, this client can out perform any other client to date. Even if uTorrent 2.2.1 is an older version, still does what its needs to do, without having to have annoying ads everywhere.
Before I continue, other torrent clients I would give mention to are qBittorrent, Deluge, Transmission, and Vuze.
Once you have installed uTorrent, open it up ready to download your first torrent.
Where To Find Torrents
Like I mentioned before, finding torrents is easy, but getting to the sites without your ISP blocking you is difficult. Nowadays people have to use proxy servers to hide from internet service providers, so you can get access to your torrent sites.
Because ive searched my self for working torrent proxy sites, and I know what its like when your favourite sites proxy gets blocked, and you can no longer get access to it, til you find another working one.
I’ve decided to create another website which is clean, and has up to date links to all my favourite torrent sites. I try to keep it up to date as often as possible, but I would recommend subscribing to my newsletter, just you get updates on new sites etc, so you don’t have to do any hard work.
The best sites I recommend using are KickAss Torrentz, The Pirate Bay, 1337X and Torrentz.

How To Download Torrents
Heres how to download torrents, head over to my site that has the list of working proxy servers, and select a website you would like to look at. I’m going to choose KickAss Torrents for this guide.
Hit ‘Switch To Full Page’, to give you a list of the latest torrents.
Now your on KickAss Torrents, we need to select a torrent we would like to download. The site does give you an overview of the file that your going to be downloading. When selecting a torrent, you want it to have as many seeders and leechers as possible. This will give you a better chance at connecting to multiple users, helping you download faster.
For this guide im going to download Jack Reacher which is 1.4GB. These days I find the easiest way to get a torrent fast, is by selecting and downloading the magnet link for the torrent. This is found after the tittle of the torrent file, after comments and verified torrent symbol.
Once you click on that, your browser will download the tiny torrent file usually, 1.7kb and ask you to open it up with a specified program.
Choose the location you would like the actual file to go, in this case the movie, and hit OK.
Your torrent is now added to uTorrent and will begin downloading the original file, like the picture below.
Once it is completed, you can open the file.
