Though, First thing you need to do, is to sign up for a Google AdSense account.

Once you’ve submitted your application, Google will send you an email confirming that you have passed the first step of the review process. If you passed the first step, you can log in and create your first Google AdSense ad.

When you are logged in and ready to go, Select ”My ads” from the top of the page.

This is where all your ads that you have created will appear, because we haven’t created any yet, this section will be blank. Let’s create our first Google AdSense ad by selecting ”+New ad unit”.

Now you can customise your Google AdSense ad, so that it fits in with your websites theme.

Start of by giving your ad a name so you can easily identify it, if you ever need to. Last thing you want is to have hundreds of ads and not be able to find the one you want to edit.

Next, it’s time to choose a size and shape of the ad. Google AdSense do offer an automatic size option, which will enable it to fit pretty much anywhere you want it, or you can select a specific size and shape, your choice.

Under ”Ad type”, you can have this ad displaying only text ads, display ads, or both.

”Text ad style” enables you to customise the colour of the text and background of the ad, so it fits in with your theme.

”Custom channels” allows you to group your ads whichever way you please for example, by size, shape or location your site. You can also track performance by custom channels and turn them into targetable ad placements so that advertisers can target their ads to your ad units.

”Backup ads” are basically backup ads, in case Google AdSense can’t find any suitable ads to place in your ad unit.

When you’re happy with your newly designed Google AdSense ad, it’s time to add it to your website, so let’s hit ”Save and get code”.

Copy the AdSense code that’s been created, we will need this to insert our ad into WordPress.

Now you’ve got your code, you need to decide where your going to add Google AdSense to WordPress. Most ads are placed in the sidebar, you can do this by using the WordPress widgets.

To do this, go to your WordPress dashboard and select ”Appearance —> Widgets”, and add a text box to your sidebar. Click the small arrow at the end of the text box to bring the menu down. In ”Content” paste your Google AdSense code you created and copied earlier into it, and hit ”Save’.
